Bill Cunningham is one of the first influential photographer that shot street fashion pictures of a passing scene in the streets of Manhattan. He have x rolls of unpublished pictures dated all the way back to the 1940's of New York's streets... I would love to see! He is famous for taking "candid" pictures.
Candid = "A candid photograph is a photograph that is made either without the subject's knowledge or without their explicit permission, hence they are captured unposed."
Many photographer develop candid photography into an art form. I was amazed by this word and eager to learn what it meant. It means simply pictures captured living an event, or a moment.
Bill Cunningham rode on his bike in the streets, snapping pics all day long. Always in a blue jacket.
Funny enough you can feel the trend colors of the season in this picture of Bill Cunningham.
Another new breed of candid photographer that influents the new generation is Tommy Ton. Its all about the world of fashion and its relationship to daily life.
We can relate to and be inspired by real people wearing clothes creatively, more so than to the unattainable images in most fashion magazines.
As I started reasearching Tommy Ton, I fond theese tweed race pictures, taken a couple of days ago:
It was a Tweed Race in Tokyo the 24th of october, I must say they even got style biking!
